Nice, September 2nd, 2026 – Ten years have passed since the night that struck Nice and claimed the lives of 86 people. Ten years during which the memory of the victims has never left the city, nor its Club.Â
On 14 August 2016, exactly one month after the attack, Le Gym returned to the Allianz Riviera to face Stade Rennais. That evening, the Club and its supporters paid their first tribute to the victims and unveiled a symbol that would endure through the years: the Victims’ Heart, formed by the names of the 86 people who lost their lives.Â
Since then, the Heart has become part of the life of the Club. At every home match, in the 86th minute, it appears on the giant screens at the Allianz Riviera. As it does, supporters switch on the lights on their phones and, for a few moments, the stands light up in memory of the 86 victims.Â
Over the seasons, this tribute has extended beyond the stands in Nice. Visiting supporters regularly join in. On occasion, when Le Gym plays away from home, the 86th minute is also marked by the same tribute, far from Nice.Â
Ten years after the first tribute on 14 August 2016, these gestures endure, match after match, season after season. They bear witness to a memory deeply rooted in the history of the Club and still very much alive within the red-and-black family.
Â
THE MEMORY ON EVERY LE GYM JERSEYÂ
In a season marking the tenth anniversary of the attack, OGC Nice wanted the memory of the victims to be present on each of its jerseys.Â
On the home and away kits, the Victims' Heart appears as a signature, carrying onto Le Gym's jerseys the symbol created in the aftermath of the tragedy and which has remained part of the Club’s life ever since.Â
With its third jersey, OGC Nice wanted to go one step further: to dedicate an entire kit to the 86 victims and their memory.Â
Â
A GOLD JERSEY, 86 STARS FOR 86 VICTIMSÂ
Entirely gold, Le Gym's third jersey draws its colour from light, which over the past ten years has become one of the symbols associated with the memory of the victims.Â
The light of the 86 beams that rise from the Promenade des Anglais into the Nice sky during remembrance ceremonies. And the light, too, of the thousands of phones illuminating the stands of the Allianz Riviera in the 86th minute of every match.Â
The gold also evokes the light of the stars. Their arrangement across the front of the jersey traces the curve of the Baie des Anges, inscribing their memory into the very silhouette of Nice. On the back of the jersey, beneath the collar, the date 14 July 2016 is displayed with understated simplicity.Â
The jersey will be worn for the first time by Le Gym's players on 5 September against Le Mans, during the match dedicated to paying tribute to the victims of 14 July 2016.Â
Â
SHINING A LIGHT ON REMEMBRANCEÂ
Light is also at the heart of the imagery chosen by OGC Nice to unveil the jersey.Â
The setting was a natural choice: the Promenade des Anglais, the site of the tragedy but also, for the past ten years, a place of remembrance and reflection. It is from here that, during remembrance ceremonies, 86 beams of light rise into the Nice sky in tribute to the victims. Over the years, this light has become a symbol of their memory. This gesture, both understated and powerful, inspired the creative concept behind the unveiling: to shine a light on remembrance, without ever confining it to sadness.Â
On the pebbles, facing a peaceful sea, the gold jersey is revealed in a pared-back atmosphere. Light takes several forms: a glowing sphere, held as though watching over a memory; a star-filled sky, echoing the 86 stars featured on the jersey; and, finally, the first light of day. The choice of dawn carries its own symbolism. Halfway between the darkness of remembrance and the light of a new day, it evokes both the memory of those who are no longer with us and the life that, despite everything, goes on.Â
For ten years, light has accompanied their memory. In the skies above Nice every 14 July. In the stands of the stadium every 86th minute. Today, in the gold and the 86 stars of this jersey.Â
Â
A light that endures. A memory that never fades.Â
Ten years on, OGC Nice remembers.
