Parisian fashion house SANDRO and Italian footwear manufacturer SUPERGA have teamed up to create a capsule collection for SS16. Evelyne and Ilan Chetrite, Sandro’s creative directors of Women’s and Men’s collections respectively, have come up with three new interpretations of the iconic 2750, the world’s first tennis shoe using the technology of vulcanized rubber, which was originally created by Walter Martiny for Superga. The Men’s model is available in three colours of cotton canvas: white, navy and light blue denim. The autoclavemoulded sole is affixed to a plastic shell that references the shoe worn by the Italian Navy in the 50’s & 60’s – an era that regularly inspires Sandro Homme collections. «This vintage style trainer blends seamlessly with Sandro Men’s collections, lending a chic, laidback look that can be worn just as well with jeans or suit trousers» comments Ilan Chetrite. The Women’s model retains the minimalist look of the original. This trainer is available in white, off-white or navy cotton canvas, respectively paired with a blue, red or burgundy sole. «I wanted to preserve the authenticity of this iconic model in giving it a fresh, colourful twist to suit our daytime wardrobe,» notes Evelyne Chetrite. The Sandro x Superga SS16 collection will be available from end of March 2016, priced 85€ in selected Sandro stores worldwide and online on Sandro-paris.com and Superga.fr.
