Milano, 14th October 2019 – Sebago®, the footwear and clothing brand established in 1946 in Maine (USA), presents Sebago® X Universal Works, the first collaboration with this English brand celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Respect for different cultures, a contemporary feel, essential creativity and consideration for everyday life are the elements shared by these two brands breathing life into two models – Cayuga and Seneca – redesigned by Universal Works’ founder and designer David Keyte, inspired by the concept of the “factory mistake”: whereby an old artisan, selecting hides which only look the same, matches different feels, textures and shades of the same color creating a beautiful mistake.
Cayuga – sturdy “mid” boots from Sebago®’s Campsides collection, named after one of the glacial lakes in the State of New York, in Universal Works’ all-new version with removable fringes on the front. Created for outdoor pursuits, with Vibram soles and leather laces, it is made of suede leather in brown shades and hand-sewn with the same techniques used by Native Americans.
The same fringes but in a low version feature on the Seneca, named after the deepest glacial lake north of New York, combining the shape of a traditional Native American moccasin with the proportions of a bowling shoe from the 50s and 60s. In hand-sewn suede leather in different shades of sand, featuring a lighter, flexible Dye Cut EVA sole.
Universal Works’ distinctive color yellow appears on the back seams and on the labels of both brands, the creators of a capsule collection with a well-defined character that does not stray from their respective style codes.
Sebago® X Universal Works will be available as a limited edition from October 14th in Universal Works stores and through their websites.
